The Lowestoft built “Defender” formally the “Al Majihad” an ex Sultan of Oman Navy fast attack craft. After seeing 17 years active service in the Sultans navy she was de-commissioned and returned to Lowestoft by a grateful Sultan as a display ship in recognition for the part Lowestoft played in the building of the Sultan of Oman’s navy in the 1970s.

Defender – Heybridge Basin

‘Defender’ is a former fast attack craft belonging to the Oman Navy, now moored on the River Blackwater at Heybridge. This naval vessel was built in Lowestoft and after serving for 17 years was gifted back to Lowestoft by the Sultan of Oman.
